Marketing a Book with Your Blog

July 30th, 2009 by Kathy Leave a reply »

The most common questions asked by people who want to be authors is “how do I get published?”  It’s a great question for a wanna be author to ask. However, for every wanna-be author who is asking, “How do I get published?” there is a published author who is asking, “How do I market my already published book?

There’s a common misconception amongst wanna be authors – that once you get your book published that it’s smooth sailing from that point on.  Nothing and I mean NOTHING could be further from the truth.

If you want your book to SELL – then you’re going to have to actively market your book.

One of the best way to market a book is on the web.

Amazon has a LOT of tools authors can use to promote their work.  One of the best only works if you have a blog for your book.

Amazon offers you the ability to make your blog do “double duty” when it comes to selling your book because you can pull your blog’s RSS feed into your Amazon Author Account.

By including your blog feed at Amazon, potential book buyers can “sample” your writing style and see if they want to buy the book(s) that you’ve written.

So not only can you use your blog to attract book buyers directly to your site – your blog can also help you to compete and sell more books on the world’s biggest online bookseller’s website.

When web visitors arrive at Amazon’s website – they are actively looking for books to buy.  Of course, you’ve already created a great looking book cover – and you’ve also carefully created your selling information on Amazon – but why not take advantage of having yet another “voice” on Amazon’s website – by adding your blog’s RSS feed to your author account.
