Author Bob Hill has been TAGGED!
Bob Hill moved to Australia from the United States and lived to write (and publish) the tale, 2 Texans Down Under.
Bob’s web presence is also a Wordpress blog and he’s been “tagged. Tagged… as in “tag, you’re it!” His post “The nearest book meme“is an example of why blogs are such a POWERFUL web marketing tool.
Remember in the recent post, Page Rank and Why It’s Important, we discussed how Google measures a web site’s “value” in part by computing how many other sites link in to the web site. The more incoming links you have, the better your page rank will be.
Well, when Bob was “tagged” in the game mentioned in the post above, he was given an opportunity to begin playing the game which will help to increase the incoming and outgoing links to and from his site.
Since he’s been “tagged”, it’s now his job to “tag” 5 other bloggers. He does this by creating a link to the other blogs within his post. The other bloggers will be notified of the “tag” via their Latest Activity box within the administration panel of the blog.
They’ll see the incoming link, read the “rules” (which are included in Bob’s post) and in turn they will each “tag” 5 other bloggers.
The idea of the game is build links between sites and it’s a great FUN way to do just that.
It’s “games” like these that help to build lots of incoming links which in turn will lift your self hosted Wordpress to the top of the search engine results.
However, when you begin your blogging meme, make sure you keep your target audience in mind when you create (or propogate) your blogging meme. The purpose is to create content, not spam. Catherine Lawson lets loose when she gets tagged by a silly blogging meme in her post, “Spammy Links”
Don’t wait to get tagged… you can start your own game of tag any time! Find a topic at the Daily Meme and start tagging!
